Summary: The e-Admin Programme Office (e-Admin) was established to look at ways of supporting and enhancing IT administration systems to enable schools and early childhood centres to spend more time on teaching and learning, by ensuring IT projects deliver the required business benefits.

About the e-Admin Programme Office

The e-Admin Programme Office (e-Admin) supports the Ministry's strategic vision of raising achievement and reducing disparity in learning outcomes for all New Zealanders through the five e-Admin IT projects it manages. The role of e-Admin is to provide project management skills and support services (e.g. financial/risk/communication input) to these projects.

e-Admin works to support teachers, school administrators, and education agencies with better information management to deliver improved education outcomes for all students.

Our vision is learner centred which means we:

  • take a student and school centred approach to information system design.
  • work to improve the quality and accuracy of data and information.

Benefits to schools

The e-Admin projects will benefit schools by:

  • providing useful and usable information which is readily available.
  • being school focused - schools' needs will be central to the decision- making process.
  • providing schools with administration tools and access to a large pool of information.
  • provide streamlined and co-ordinated processes and systems for interacting with the Ministry.
  • ensuring schools have information on "accredited" vendors and software.
  • providing staff training to support the new IT administration systems.
